This book covers the life and times of an ordinary person born in 1950 but who has seen and done some extraordinary things. He joined the British Army as an apprentice aircraft technician in January 1967. We follow his military career through Germany, Italy, Canada and even Guernsey until he leaves the Army in 1980. The story does not stop there as he immediately joined Lincolnshire Police. The author became a firearms trained officer and qualified as an instructor, being on the specialist firearms team for ten years. He retired in August 2002 but went on to work for five years in a local grammar school where he helped out with Duke of Edinburgh Award expeditions.
As a Firearms Support Group member he carried out VIP Protection, Rifle Marksman and Rapid Intervention duties. He has been a bodyguard for HRH The Princess Royal, Diana Princess of Wales and several other members of the British royal family. Politicians protected include Enoch Powell and Margaret Thatcher.
