Judy Wicks shows how locally rooted businesses can address the needs of all stakeholders—employees, customers, investors, neighbors, and the earth. She describes the evolution of her restaurant, the White Dog Café in Philadelphia, and the way her personal experiences and beliefs gained in her business led her to adopt practices such as paying a living wage, supporting community service and educational programming, purchasing 100 percent wind-generated electricity, and sourcing produce and humanely raised animal products from local family farms.
