The Peacock Notebook - an easy yet intriguing read

After a rather turbulent life, Sarah Smith settles down in her new little flat to what she thinks will be a rather boring, routine life, but then she meets John who adds some spice to her life. She gets even more excited when she discovers that the granddaughter, Alison, she hasn't seen since she was two is coming on a visit from Australia. Sarah has started writing about events in her life in a notebook with a peacock on the front. She thinks Alison will be interested in things that have happened in the family, but when she opens the door to Alison a terrible shock awaits her.
