The Rectory

Stephen Holmes has the reverse Midas touch in that everything he attempts usually turns to dross and you can include in that his uninspiring career and any relationships with the opposite sex.  Then one fine day, out of the blue, he gets a solicitor’s letter informing him he as been bestowed a rather nice fat legacy.  The legacy is better than his wildest dreams and includes land, money, an old rectory and the chance of a new life.  The rectory just needs a make-over before he can sell it at a vast profit and add to his newly received fortune.  He decides anyone with a modicum of common sense could do the job, after all what could possible go wrong?
