The Waif of the Cynthia (1885) is the story of the great scholar Dr. Schwaryencrona, who has adopted a boy named Erik. The doctor has promised the guardians of the boy that he will provide him with education and better opportunities. On a quest to find the real parents, the doctor and the child have a series of adventures.
