Jane Eyre

Jane Eyre by English writer Charlotte Brontë is a great example of bildungsroman, a novel of formation and education, where the author focuses on the moral and psychological growth of the main character. This novel was written in the autobiographical style and follows the emotions and experiences of the main character, Jane Eyre, her growth and her love to Mr. Rochester. Charlotte Brontë focuses on the developing of Jane's moral and spiritual sensibility. The novel contains elements of social criticism and proto-feminism with a strong sense of morality. Jane Eyre really revolutionised literary environment of that time and became one of the most strongest manifestation of the protest against the Victorian morality.
