Twelve-year-old Boma’s life takes another turn the day he prepares for his village land-cleansing festival. He is silently kidnapped, bound and spirited away from the shores of southeastern Nigeria to the Caribbean Island as a slave. Bound by the laws governing the festival that requires all participants remain mute throughout the cleansing, to prevent misfortunes from befalling the Kalabari community, Boma faces a crossroad between shouting and saving himself, or sacrificing himself for his people, whom the slavers threaten to burn down with the village. He is determined to return to his homeland, but can he trace his way back?
