Love's Journey Home

Seven children are abandoned by their drunken father one cold, sleety night after their mother died in childbirth. The children must make the hard decision to split apart. The story follows Frankie, third-born, as he heads to a neighboring farmer to ask for room and board in trade for his ten-year-old muscles. When he suspects the farmer may sell him to a stranger for labor, he hops a northbound train to escape his fate.

Frankie searches for love to fill the hole in his heart. Through many adventures and harrowing experiences growing up on the farm, he confronts his lifelong feelings of inadequacies and doubts his beliefs. Then he meets Anne. Anne changes everything, and brings a new kind of feeling into his young teenage heart. She also dregs up old secrets and hidden feelings.
