Jack London – (Jan 12, 1876 – Nov 22, 1916) American writer and journalist. Born and grown up in California, he tried his luck in Alaska in the time of the Gold Rush, but unsuccessfully. During his writer's career he's written such novels as Martin Eden, The White Fang, The Sea-Wolf etc. and a lot of magnificent short stories. "War of the Classes" is a collection of works by Jack London on political economical topics. It is a very informative and clear picture of socialism and a deep insight into problems of labour in the begging of the XX century. What makes this collection of essays especially valuable is that most of the raised issues are still on the front burner and socialism thus farl has enough potency to drive world’s politics.
