Francis Bret Harte (1836 – 1902) was a famous American author and poet mostly known for his short fiction stories about adventures of miners, gamblers, and other fine figures of the California Gold Rush. “Jeff Brigs's Love Story” is a heart-touching story that happened to the proprietor of a wayside inn, Jeff Briggs.
