Edith Wharton (Jan 24, 1862 – Aug 11, 1937) was an American novelist and short story writer, her most known works are The House of Mirth and The Age of Innocence. She was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature on multiple occasions. Wharton first attempted to write at the age of six. Major themes of her works came from her family relationship.
"The Custom of The Country" is a novel by Edith Wharton. The story is focused on the Spraggs, a family from the Midwest, living in fictional city of Apex. Spraggs are far from poor, but their wealth is made by means that are not quite legal. And in the middle of one of their schemes there was their daughter, Undine, who was just married to a rich New-Yorker from an old family.
