Franklin K. Mathiews was librarian for the Boy Scouts of America, and set out to produce books of stories that he felt were proper and appropriate for Scouts. This book contains 18 stories from such authors as Arthur Conan Doyle to O. Henry, and Mark Twain. They include western cowboy stories, adventure and action, mystery and humor. There is, indeed, something for everyone.
This edition of the book contains the eight original illustrations, rejuvenated, and two additonal place-, time- and subject-relevant illustrations that are unique to this edition.
