Emma Murdock Van Deventer was a late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century novelist whose works appeared in the U.S. and Britain between 1870-1912. Born in Oswego, Illinois in 1853. She married Dr. A.E. Van Deventer in 1887. Emma died of a stroke in 1914.
