What if you could go back in time and tell yourself as a kid about all the anchors the world will try to throw upon you?
Sure minimalism is a great goal, no matter what age you discover it. Yet it's much harder to shed all the trinkets of consumerism than it would be to never have attached yourself to them in the first place.
My hope is that "The Slow Race" will be a story that plants a seed of doubt in kids' minds about all the things they are being sold from the moment they can understand a TV commercial. The two characters in this story live very different lives and it shows when Tex Turtle and Ricky Rabbit end up racing each other for a Netflix documentary.
Ricky is super fast, but loves "things."
Tex is super slow, but is not weighed down with "things."
Who will win the race when it comes down to the wire?
You and your child just might be surprised to find out.
My hope is that you all enjoy reading “The Slow Race” as much as I enjoyed writing it. I certainly wish I had read a few books like this as a kid. It would have saved me from an attic full of junk, a pile of payments along the way, and lots of headaches:)
