Meet Sir William Burrill: semi-retired detective-inspector, successful playwright and keen philatelist. It is in the latter capacity that Sir William, together with his nephew Bobby, sets off to see a man about a stamp. But when they reach the chic London apartment block where resides the strangely-named collector Ganthony Slyne, they are shocked to discover the man's dead body awaiting them in the lift.
