Investigating the death of a stockbroker, Inspector Ripple is once again assisted by Amos Petrie, an eccentric solicitor who draws on his passion for fishing to produce unexpected deductions in crimes of a more human variety. It appears that the murder took place during a shady late-night meeting at the broker's home. The man's servant is convinced that the last of the callers to talk to her master must be the murderer. But... who spoke last?
Originally published in 1932, this is a vintage murder mystery by John Victor Turner, who (as Nicholas Brady) also wrote the Ebenezer Buckle mysteries.
