After attending a boxing match at the Albert Hall, Amos Petrie and his friend, Sir Ernest Denton are invited to a select party at a shady nightclub. Already embarrassed at being encouraged to take part in an extravagant dance known as the Paul Jones, Petrie is mortified when the club is raided by the police. When the lights come up however, it is to reveal that one of those present has been savagely murdered. To discover the culprit, Petrie and Inspector Ripple must plumb the depths of corruption, deceit and treachery endemic in London's criminal underworld.
Originally published in 1934, this is a vintage murder mystery from John Victor Turner who (as Nicholas Brady) also wrote the Ebenezer Buckle mysteries.
