Newspaper Blackout

　　Newspaper article + sharpie = Newspaper Blackout Poetry: Instead of starting with a blank page, poet Austin Kleon grabs a newspaper and a permanent marker and eliminates the words he doesn't need.

　　Austin Kleon is a cartoonist and poet from Austin, TX who takes a page from an existing newspaper and blacks out words until he finds a new hidden meaning in the text. These poems range from hilarious to profound. One can imagine taking up blackout poetry on a daily bus commute in the place of sudoku or crossword puzzles.

　　This book will contain original poems by Austin Kleon in addition to the submissions of others whose poems will be solicited through Austin's website.

　　Austin Kleon is a writer, cartoonist, and designer. His Newspaper Blackout poems have been featured on NPR's Morning Edition, in Toronto's National Post, and all over the Web. He lives in Austin, Texas, with his wife, Meghan.
