Elizabeth Cleaver’s colorful collage illustrations--assembled with torn paper, paper cut-outs, and linocuts--brought her international recognition. Her collaboration with William Toye resulted in a series of vivid and compelling books which retold native myths in contemporary language. Each title became an instant treasure for the reader. Elizabeth Cleaver died in 1985.
