Interview: Research on Its Anatomy and Structure

Matarazzo (behavioral neuroscience, Oregon Health & Science U.) and Wiens (psychiatry and behavioral neuroscience, Oregon Health & Science U.) examine the interview process in psychotherapy and other interview encounters, and its structure. The volume reviews their research on the topic since 1954 (that was also conducted with their colleagues), with details of specific studies that were published in journals. First reviewed are historical antecedents of interview speech research, with subsequent chapters on analyzing speech behavior, stability studies that consider consistency in speech behavior, modifiability, and the interrelationship between these different speech variables, as well as interview content. The book is aimed at undergraduates in communications fields, graduate students, and teachers and practitioners. A sample interview is included.
