Her feet aching and itching to move and something about the music playing awakening her, Karina suddenly blurted out "Mum, I need to learn ballet!" "...this is what I ’must’ do! I ’need’ to do!" she implored. Peeping through the keyhole and watching her cousins ballet class, Karina immediately ’knew’ she just had to dance - that it was her destiny! The only thing was, she was 11 years old ... and had never danced a step before. The youngest of two children from a poor single-parent family, Karina’s overwhelming pull and urge to dance is fulfilled and further fuelled as she experiences the first steps in learning to dance, despite suffering an injury and not being able to afford more than one ballet lesson a week. Karina nevertheless carries on - inspired by her mother’s spiritual guidance and unconditional love - turning obstacles and difficulties into positives and working to save her own money to pursue her dream.
