Suicide Prevention

The proceedings of the March 1997 conference contain 39 contributions, including tributes to two individuals who have made outstanding contributions to suicide research and prevention: Norman Farberow and Erwin Stengel. The 100th anniversary of the publication of Emile Durkheim's Le Suicide is celebrated with a Durkheim Oration. Other topics include a nomenclature for suicidology; familial risk factors for adolescent suicide; suicides in Australia; suicide among the Canadian Inuit; suicides in police custody in the Netherlands; depression and attempted suicide; and suicide prevention on the internet.
