博客來Why should you watch a video Bible study about wine in the Bible? What role might wine have in the life of a Christian, or even in the life of the church? As Christians, aren’t we committed to truly spiritual things, building up the body of Christ and seeing the Kingdom of God coming down to earth? Surely wine doesn’t have anything to do with that. Doesn’t the apostle Paul even remind us that the kingdom of God is not about eating and drinking but about spiritual things such as righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit (Rom. 14:17)?
Does it surprise you that Jesus’ first miracle was turning water into wine? Did you know that Jesus drank four cups of wine when he celebrated the Passover meal with his disciples? He was known to hang out with the rough-and-ready of society, enjoying wine with saints and sinners alike. He surely did not fit into the spiritual vision of his own people and offended the religious status quo seemingly wherever he went.
Do you feel uncomfortable with the idea that wine is a spiritual gift? Perhaps you feel slightly sinful for indulging in a glass of wine or overly afraid that wine might be the devil’s tool of temptation. And we’ve all seen the abuses that can happen with alcohol.
