Women’s Work: The English Experience 1650-1914

Although the last few years have seen much new research in the areas of gender and women’s history, this is the only book to date that collects in a coherent way the most formative articles on our thinking about women’s work in English history for both the early modern and contemporary periods. Commentary puts each chapter into context while also highlighting the controversies and pointing readers toward the future directions of scholarly work in this field.
