Fisher (chemistry, U. of Leeds, UK) and Arnold (Selby College, UK) have revised the second edition, published nearly seven years ago, of their chemistry textbook for students of biology and health sciences. Besides making many smaller changes, they have added new subsections on carbohydrates as one of the main classes of biological molecules, and the basics of X-ray diffraction. Other topics include chemical bonds and molecular shape, the three-dimensional molecular structure of organic compounds, some metals in biology, aromatic compounds, and elementary thermodynamics.
