Landreth (counseling, development, and higher education, U. of North Texas) presents an updated graduate-level text and reference for counseling professionals. As with previous editions, the third is based on Landreth's Child-Centered Play Therapy model, emphasizing the importance of understanding the child's world and perspective. Newly expanded explanations now make the theory and philosophy of Landreth's approach more accessible and personally applicable for readers. Chapters on beginning the play therapy relationship, characteristics of facilitative relationships, and parents as partners in play therapy have been extensively rewritten.
