Surprisingly, despite the continuing strong interest in Art Deco, there has never previously been a book devoted to these objects, let alone one with such consistent, high-quality photography and carefully researched period illustrations, such as film stills and advertisements, that help bring the collectibles to life. The objects in this thematically structured book demonstrate Deco style at its most alluring, as well as the modernity, excitement and social revolution of the Jazz Age. The items then were the height of fashion, and to many they remain sought after as collectibles. They demonstrate an era of closer cooperation between designers and manufacturers, who aimed to produce goods that were not only fit for purpose, but also well made and beautiful.
