Gary was born in Queens New York on March 9, 1965. He came across rough times when he, his two brothers and three sisters, were abandoned by both parents. He was no older than four years old. They were all placed in a foster home in the Bronx New York. The six of them stayed together but foster parents raised them. Gary graduated from Evander Childs High School of the Bronx New York in 1983. He was in the Navy from 1983 to 1986. He was in the Army from 1986 to 1992. He received honorable discharges from both branches. Gary discovered his writing talent in 1993. He took courses in creative writing to sharpen this newfound talent. At first, writing was an escape for Gary. He later decided to use his talent to give something positive and educational back to the communities. Gary wrote, directed and acted in four educational plays. They were all performed onstage in Berkeley and Oakland California (1995-2001) Gary began writing screenplays in 2000. He has finished four full-length screenplays. They all have different genres. Gary began writing poetry in 2001. He is the Author of three published educational poetry books. The poetry books educationally address tough youth, community and political social issues. He has just finished a thought-provoking novel entitled, "Deceptive Vows." This novel is based on Gary’s play entitled, "Until Death Do Us Part." The novel deals with domestic violence. His latest book, "Predator on the Diamond: The Boston Red Sox Youth Molestation Story," is Gary’s most powerful book to date. Gary wants to continue making an impact on our communities and on society in general. He believes education is the key. Since 2004, he has consistently volunteered his time in schools throughout Georgia. He volunteers his time as an Author, Motivational Speaker and Mentor. Gary has established his own business in the Atlanta Georgia area. He is CEO and Founder of Tavares Entertainment, LLC. His company offers creative and professional writing services and the development of original works.
