David G. Schwartz is the Director of the Center for Gaming Research at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and an internationally-known expert on casinos and gambling history. Schwartz, an Atlantic City native, began his formal study of gambling history while getting his Ph.D. in United States History from the University of California, Los Angeles; his dissertation considered the rise of casino resorts on the Las Vegas Strip within its national context. Since arriving at UNLV in 2001, Schwartz has written or edited six books about gambling. Schwartz is also a regular contributor to Vegas Seven magazine. As gaming and hospitality editor, he writes the bi-weekly "Green Felt Journal" column about the city’s casino scene and pens frequent feature stories.
