The Death Gambit

As the local council digs a trench across an unused field, bodies are discovered. Newly promoted Detective Inspector Melanie Carter and her team are initially baffled by the way the bodies are clothed and buried and a strange pattern emerges to the layout of the bodies. As the investigation proceeds, the story reveals a long history of pathological disorders going back centuries and a danger that threatens the life of Melanie Carter.
