Based on fact, Dark Nights and Dusty Roads tells of how an idyllic life for a young boy can change so dramatically after the loss of his father.

Mick McInerny, a young man with a bright future, is thrust into the working world while helping his mother keep their family together. From a privileged position in life to hard physical work as an apprentice in the construction industry, Mick overcomes many challenges that come his way. He finds a world of honesty in working with post-WWII tradesmen whose honour is in a handshake, and who still have the smell of blood in their nostrils from a war of horror that cannot be imagined.

Given a chance in the cut and thrust of the corporate world, Mick then finds himself in a land of treachery and deceit. This is not war as we know it, yet it is - the Corporate War - with billion-dollar companies fighting for supremacy, where people smile from the eye and lie from the heart.
