Rob. Lauer (Book & Lyrics) is an award-winning playwright and director. In 1990, at the Deep South Writers Conference, he became the first playwright to win both the Best Play of the Year Award for "Tom and Penny’s Yard Party" (also available through Stage Rights) and the Paul T. Nolan Award for his urban drama, "The Church Street Fantasy." Recent works include the historical musical "First Freedom" (with a score by Emmy-award winning composer Sam Cardon); "My Jo" (based on the works of Louisa May Alcott); the comedy "Geeks & Gangsters" (inspired by the true story of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster-the Cleveland teenagers who, during the 1930’s, created Superman) and the critically-acclaimed musical, "A Southern Christmas Carol." His most recent collaboration with Matt Bean is the new outdoor musical, "Chief Little Will," which is presented each summer at the Mountainside Theatre in Cherokee, North Carolina.
