James H. Goodwin started writing novels after successful careers in children’s services and as a small business owner. For many years, Goodwin was President and CEO of a children’s residential treatment, foster care and adoption agencies. He also was a highly regard psycho-therapist working with families and children. His profession helped him develop good listening skills which played a major role in his understanding the human condition. His stories deal with romance, mystery and often the struggles that people face in their everyday relationships. Although Goodwin was raised on the north shore of Massachusetts, he has resided for many years in Michigan. He and his wife currently make their home along the shore of Lake Michigan in Manistee. For a decade they were owners and operators of the "best coffee shop" in northern Michigan. The over the counter conversations with customers offered many ideas for stories which along with his past career are often reflected in his books. A Sin of Omission is his latest book and just so happens to be number two in a series about a fictitious northern Michigan town called Manitou. You will want to read the first in the series To Find What Was Lost as well as his first book The Truth is in Her Genes.
