Living Faithfully: The Church’s Role in a Secular Age

Instead of feeling on their heels, forced to react to each new cultural or social challenge as it arises, readers will be pointed back to elements of the Christian tradition that they can confidently lean upon, even as they press onward, being drawn forward by God into a life of service to the world. How the Light Shines Through is organized into three sections: Section 1 offers a selected history of how society go to this point and acknowledges the struggle and frustration many Christians feel in the face of a changing culture. Section 2 defines three main concerns of our secular age and how they appear in the lives of people around us. Finally, Section 3 builds on that foundation, and offers strategies for living faithfully as the Church in our modern context, including chapters on evangelism, bridging relational gaps, and overcoming the idol of identity.
