Zsolnai (Business Ethics Center, Budapest U. of Economics Sciences, Hungary) and Gasparski (Institute of Philosophy and Sociology, Polish Academy of Sciences, Poland) present six essays that seek to save capitalism by arguing for the adoption of business ethics. Different methods of achieving this are proffered, including taking into account cultural norms in transition countries, allowing civil society to promote cooperative behavior, and "embedding" capitalism in the ethics and culture of a society. Also included is the reproduction of a debate between financier George Soros and a handful of academics regarding the ideas raised in Soros' 1997 article The Capitalist Threat . Sloppy editing occasionally mars the text. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
