Children With Parents in Prison: Child Welfare Policy, Program, and Practice Issues

This work calls for increased public awareness of the impact of parental incarceration on children and discusses how to meet the needs of these children and families. Specific topics include an integrated child welfare and criminal justice strategy for supporting families and children, the impact of changing public policy on relatives caring for children with incarcerated parents, and forces that influence incarcerated fathers’ relationships with their children.
