"John Andrew was the first Methodist preacher born in the state of Georgia. ... The four original sections of the journal and the section of Andrew’s religious poetry found in this rendering are likely the earliest extant documents of North Georgia Methodism, the first of the journal sections being from the year 1818. Due to Andrew being a school teacher as well as a local preacher, these pages give rare insights into education and ministry in those early times."
