Stacey (sociology, Kent State U.) presents this sociological study of the home care profession. She explains that with an ever increasing elderly and disabled population in the US, home care has become a mainstay in the healthcare industry. Home care aides endure both physical and emotional labor while being compensated minimally and suffering social degradation. This study draws from interviews with aides in Ohio and California, exposing the hardships as well as the positive bonds often established between aides and clients. This book is intended for those studying sociology. IRL Press is an imprint of Cornell U. Press. Annotation 穢2011 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
