John K. Sherman covered the cultural front for the Minneapolis Star and Tribune for nearly 30 years. His range included music, drama, dance, art, and books. In addition to reviewing local theatrical events, he traveled to New York once each year to review the new shows there. He is the author of a book, Music and Maestros: The Story of the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra (University of Minnesota Press), and was an amateur actor. One of his hobbies was bread baking. He had others too, and he did occasional radio and television work. He published freelance material in the Saturday Evening Post. At the Star and Tribune his schedule for a typical week included at least one book review, half a dozen recordings reviews, several play and concert reviews, a Sunday column on almost any subject, and the assembling of two arts pages.
