With a trail of failed romances behind him Englishman Mark wonders if there really is such a thing as 'the one'.

Then he meets Jo, an American tourist who looks like his favourite actress, makes him laugh and shares his passion for music.

They soon fall in love and when she leaves at the end of her vacation he can't live without her and flies out to propose. They return to England to begin a new life together and for a year everything is perfect.

Just when he thinks life couldn't get any better they are involved in a controversial and very public claim for a lottery jackpot worth millions.

Jo reassures him that whatever the outcome they still have each other but Mark soon loses sight of what really matters and it costs him his friends, his job and everything he holds dear including Jo.
