C J Verburg is an award-winning playwright, director, and author of best-selling books including the international literature collections Ourselves Among Others and Making Contact. She started her literary career at age one as a storyteller to stuffed animals, and continued as an in-house and freelance editor in Boston and San Francisco. On Cape Cod she collaborated with the artist and author Edward Gorey on numerous theatrical and other adventures, which inspired her multimedia memoir Edward Gorey On Stage: Playwright, Director, Designer, Performer, as well as her play Spin, or Twilight of the Bohemians. Along with assistant-directing twenty-odd Gorey plays, she directed several of her own, and (by the playwrights’ permission) a workshop of Kurt Vonnegut’s Cat’s Cradle and the unofficial U.S. premiere of Peter Shaffer’s The Gift of the Gorgon. She’s currently writing new contemporary mysteries in both her Edgar Rowdey Cape Cod series and her international Cory Goodwin series, and working on a historical saga about East Coast adventurers who voyaged to San Francisco in the 1850s.
