Ten-year-old Alexia is the heroine of this fictional trip through four seasons at Lake Maxinkuckee in northern Indiana. Join her in a voyage into a different time which is much like our own.
The book is dedicated to those first settlers of this community who had the courage, strength, and endurance to come to the part of the Northwest Territory that becme Indiana. Some pioneers’ names are: Clifton, Benedict, Bigley, Easterday, Heller, Houghton, Louden, Melbourn, Norris, Osborn, Overmyer, Rector, Romig, Stahl, Tabor, Vanschoiack, Wickizer, Wise, and Zechiel. These first homesteaders became bankers, merchants, farmers, builders, and workmen, and built the community we now enjoy.
