After receiving a misdiagnosis of ALS/Lou Gehrig's disease in 2006, Jim Young committed to beating the odds. Working with Erica, his wife and devoted advocate, Jim focused on the signs and messages that surrounded his family, such as a friend's words, which ultimately led to a correct diagnosis of chronic Lyme disease, a subject of considerable controversy within the medical establishment. Dealing with insurance companies, healthcare professionals, and the politics surrounding the definition and treatment of the disease while trying to recover remains a difficult challenge. Although Jim and Erica were convinced that he would live a normal life again, play his much-loved game of golf, and return to a gratifying job, Jim's battle with the disease continues. Despite the difficulties, Jim, his family and friends, and all who support him are grateful for the blessings in life and the many miracles they've encountered along the way. Reading this inspirational story is a reminder that when there is hope, there is possibility, and that good things are present even in the worst of times.
