Meet Amy Jamieson. Amy is attractive, intelligent, has a good job, a nice apartment and a loving boyfriend, Simon Perry. She is also one of the most accident prone people you could ever meet, and throughout her life has been plagued by minor misfortunes and mishaps.

Unfortunately, when Amy accompanies Simon (who plans to propose to her) to Boston to meet his large family for the Independence Day weekend, most members of the snobbish, overbearing and dysfunctional Perry family take an instant dislike to the nervous newcomer, and Amy finds herself in one embarrassing and disastrous situation after another.
