Defense lawyer AJ Garrison finds herself representing a high school student accused of murdering his English teacher, and she's only in her second year out of law school. Never defended a capital murder case before.

The student did it. He shot the woman in front of 24 other students. With the boy’s guilt apparent, Garrison must save him from a sentence of execution in the electric chair at Tennessee’s Brushy Mountain State Prison, and must do it while facing a threat against her own life if she proceeds.
