Barbara Thunderclap turns up to make her peace with a mother she has been long estranged from, only to find her stone dead on the floor at her home. Lily Westfall, a reclusive neighbor, by mere happenstance finds her compassion summoned in Barbara’s hour of need. Kenny Fitzroy’s cozy early retirement is disrupted with the news that he is to be a father. Philandering husband Mike is up to his old tricks, but finds himself plunging into deeper emotional territory than usual with Isabel, an attractive young resident. His wife Peggy begrudgingly makes plans for their 50^th wedding anniversary gala along with a solid resolution to file for divorce immediately after the party and escape the doldrums. Her restlessness rubs off on new friend Marge Cumberbatch and soon Marge has more than second thoughts about her own husband Ted. Drawn uncannily into each other’s storm swirls, they brace themselves for a storm of monumental proportions.
