Widow’s Island

Biologist, Ned Fielding leaves the tattered remains of his marriage behind to spend six months on Winward Island, a property shared by SENCA, his land conservation group, and the reclusive, Widow Barlow. Dispatched to the island to study a rare species of carrion beetle, Ned finds himself much more interested in studying the island’s only other human, the beautiful, Addie Barlow, whose screams of terror awaken him in the dead of night.A hurricane and near drowning throw the island’s two inhabitants together and they begin a smoldering love affair. The locals call the Widow Barlow a witch and enchantress. They claim she murdered her much older husband, the philanthropist, King Barlow, but Ned cannot quite believe the wild tales about the gentle woman he adores. Enchantress, maybe-with her closest companions, an osprey, dolphin and coyote - but murderess? Will Ned’s quest for the truth destroy their love and Addie’s heart?

M. Lee Prescott is the author of numerous works of fiction for adults, young adults and children, among them Prepped to Kill, Gadfly (Books One and Two in the Ricky Steele series), Jigsaw, A Friend of Silence, and Song of the Spirit. Her newest contemporary romance series, Morgan’s Run, debuts in the fall of 2014. Three of her nonfiction titles have been published by Heinemann and she has published numerous articles in the field of literacy education. Lee is a professor of education at a small New England liberal arts college where she teaches reading and writing pedagogy. Her current research focuses on mindfulness and connections to reading and writing. She regularly teaches abroad, most recently in Singapore. Lee has lived in southern California (loved those Laguna nights!), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and various spots in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Currently, she resides in Massachusetts on a beautiful river, where she canoes, swims, and watches the incredible variety of migratory birds that pass by. She is the mother of two sonsand spends lots of time with them, their beautiful wives, and her amazing grandchildren. When not teaching or writing (both of which she loves), Lee’s passions revolve around family, yoga (Kripalu is a second home), swimming, bouncing, and walking. Lee loves to hear from readers.
