Rasim Nami, a Sunni Muslim, denies his religion and Pakistani background to fall in line with American customs. When it is determined that his father is a part of the militant group responsible for the 9/11 attacks, he experiences a heavy dose of racism and breaks down, until Snow picks him back up.
Snow Bradshaw, the only child to devout Christians, is overcome by boredom. Even though her father was a reformed drug trafficker, which resulted in her name. Realizing she needs excitement, when she meets Rasim he quickly becomes her world and although the road is rocky they marry.
Years later, after his first taste of blood, Rasim becomes a drug lord with cult power. His name is whispered in and out of the federal prison system and he is respected and feared.
When he decides to purposely re-enter prison by violating his probation to help the son he never knew existed, Snow reluctantly stands by his side. Since his offspring is labeled a snitch, Rasim knows his son will not last a day without his help.
Rasim realizes going back inside will be a cakewalk. Besides, the bit is short and in there he's God.
Despite Rasim having brushes with prison before, this sentence is harder on Snow. She recognizes that he has more control over her now than he did when he was home. She isn't allowed to make a move without receiving his call or emails and she feels unappreciated. In addition, the mental abuse she endures while trying to gain weekly visits is torture.
With a love so strong, one would wonder why a helicopter is hovering over the home she shares with Rasim and why sixty SWAT officers have weapons pointed at the property.
