Holly Spofford combines her love of the game of golf and her skill at story-telling to deliver her first novel-one she says can be read and enjoyed by anyone between the ages of ten and eighty. Holly graduated from Hollins University with a degree in English. She coached boys and girls sports for twenty-five years and taught middle school English for seventeen years. After much internal debate and discussion, she left the world of education to realize her childhood dream of writing a book. A Letter for Hoot was inspired by the mystery unit that had been part of her teaching curriculum. She currently resides in Wayne, Pennsylvania, with her husband John, and can occasionally be seen riding in the rumble seat of her father’s antique LaSalle, usually on her way to play golf.
