博客來During June of 2003, Knight Ridder Newspaper’s senior military correspondent Joseph L Galloway interviewed General Tommy Franks, the head of US Central Command. General Franks described the beginning of hostilities as follows: ＂Somewhere 8 to 10 hours before the expiration of the ultimatum, I got a call from General Dick Myers in the situation room of the White House with Don Rumsfield and Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director George Tenet. I had with me in Qatar my intelligence people. Information being received that regime leadership was in a particular location; the president took a decision that the location would not be hit before the expiration.＂1 ＂The secretary (Rumsfield) asked me if I had the capability to hit such a location. There would be a narrow window between the expiration of the ultimatum and daylight.＂2 General Franks chose to use F-117s to hit the target. What if General Franks had weapons in his arsenal that could delivery its payload within an hour of tasking?
